This season has been one to put in the record books at Humboldt Speedway.

Approaching the last race of the season the USRA modified division has caught the attention of a lot of racers thinking they can reel in a win at the hummer. Tad Davis has the most wins this season with 4 but trails 2012 point champion John Allen by 40 points and only has 2 wins. Davis has definitely beat Allen on mileage getting to the speedway with John making his haul from Chanute and Davis from Mount Hope Ks, Davis leads Allen by 4800 hwy miles this summer. Scott Daniels trails Davis by 352 in route to keeping his perfect attendance going. Chase Domer has slowly climbed the ladder to land himself in 4th in points after missing a few nights early on in the season. Dennis Bishop who wasn’t quite ready for the races in march finds himself in the 5th spot  making 15 of the 18 races. 392 drivers have signed in through the season just under the 400 that is needed to collect full payout from USRA at seasons end banquet.

Rays Metal Depot  USRA B-mods have another close point battle Jimmy Davis leads the field into the last night driving his J&J tire 01 car. Jimmy aimed high once again this year with having won 4 titles in previous years, says his key to excellence is preparation before getting to the track. Tim Vangotten looks to break that streak only trailing by 13 points, Tim has had his ups and downs through the season but the second half of the season he has been spot on making his way to the front of the field every night. Tyler Kidwell could spoil the deal for both drivers knowing he is only 1 point behind Vangotten you can bet his left rear spring wont fall out this week. Tim Phillips may be an underdog but he is not one to count out since he has more races under his belt at numerous tracks this season more than any other driver racing for points at the speedway. Michael Letterman hasn’t had the season he thought after changing cars midseason, but has made every race and built a sport compact for his wife to drive in his spare time. B-mods need 23 cars to check in this week in order to get full points money as they have 277 cars checked in through the year.

USRA Stock Car points are pretty much locked up with Patrick Kay on the point and being the only driver to make every race this year. Tyler James undefeated streak finally came to an end last week after his crew decided they wanted to see if he could win from the back of the field but still sits 2nd in points. Scott Collins is 3rd in points and right behind him is last weeks feature winner Devin Irvin who picked up his first ever victory at the Hummer. Chance Stevenson of Iola rounds out the top 5 but has yet to make it back the track the second half of the season. Only 100 drivers have checked in this year in the stock car class but it has definitely been some of the tightest racing at the speedway.

Pure Stock racer Chris Churning of Chanute leads Wayne Johnson of Humboldt in the standings by 115 points. Churning has had the season of his life winning multiple features through the season and don’t count on him letting up this Friday. Wayne’s win the first night of the season got him a jump start on the point battle but it looks as he will finish 2nd beating out Donald McIntosh, multi-time champion and crowd favorite Derek Wilson. Joey Decoster will finish 5th in his first full season of racing with us at Humboldt.

First Season for Sport compacts has seen the class grow little by little. Tyler Davis who has been the driver to beat all season long is in a new car that has helped him carry the point lead going into the last night. Tevyn James who we think has had a better season than his older brother Tyler James did his first year has some big shoes to fill. Tevyn is the only other driver to make every race this year in the sport compact class and sits 946 points behind Davis. Aaron Farwell who has 1 win on the season is 3rd in points followed by late arrival Kourtney Letterman and Drake Barker.

Points will wrap up this Friday night in all classes at the speedway, there will be no shortage of racing as the Utv class will be practicing at intermission in their warm up for the Debut at the School bus races  Saturday Septermber the 5th.These last two weeks are nights you wont want to miss!
