Humboldt- Tad Davis had been patient this season, watching fellow Wichita area driver Cody Schniepp take wins while Davis ran second. Davis wasted little time on Friday evening jumping to the lead and leading every lap on his way to his first visit to victory lane at the 3/8 mile Humboldt Speedway this year. Davis fought off several late race restarts, distancing himself from Jim Body and Chase Domer for the win in McCarthy Auto Group / USRA Modified action.
In Ray's Metal Depot/ USRA B Modified action, Chanute's Tim Van Gotten held off Dylan Allen and Tyler Kidwell for the victory. Pittsburg's Brian McGowen and Riley Whitworth rounded out the top five.
In the Fastshafts by Axle Exchange Street Stock division, Jay Lamon's Jr. continued his recent run, picking up his third consecutive victory. TYler James once again settled for the runner-up spot with Levi McGowen rounding out the top three.
The Pure stock class saw Derrek Wilson return to Humboldt Speedway victory lane as he held off a late charge from last weeks winner Matthew Kay. Bryce Weldon, Joey Decoster and Scott Lucke made up the remainder of the top five.
In Sport Compacts, the largest field of the season competed with Chanute's Trent Wilson picking up the win. Eleven cars checked in for this class; making the victory even sweeter.
Racing returns to Humboldt Speedway on June 17th, as the mid-season Championships will be held. No racing on June 24th, but mark your calendars for a $2000 to win, USRA Modified Special on July 1st. Photos and Results can be found at www,humboldtspeedway.com.
