After a wild but successful 2020 season, the Humboldt Speedway is switching gears in preparation for 2021.
After returning to the family of USRA racetracks in 2020 with the sanctioning of Modifieds and B-Mods, the 3/8-mile bullring known as “The Hummer” will add USRA-sanctioned Stock Cars and Tuners in 2021.
Along with other tracks in the region, Humboldt Speedway will be utilizing one-year transition rules for the track’s current Street Stock division to fully rulebook-compliant USRA Stock Cars.
Those that adhere to the 2021 USRA Stock Car rules will be eligible and are encouraged to compete at tracks which utilize the transition rules. Stock Cars competing at Humboldt Speedway must be 100% USRA legal in 2022.
Humboldt Speedway will also sanction the USRA Tuner division in 2021. There will be minimal rules differences between the Tuners and Humboldt Speedway’s current front-wheel-drive sport compact division. However, drivers competing in the Tuner division will now reap all benefits that the USRA offers, including lucrative track and national points funds as well as contingency awards.
“A unified, competitive rules package like what the USRA Stock Car offers is something this region has needed for quite some time,” said Ryan Whitworth, co-owner of Humboldt Speedway. “With other tracks beginning to make the change, we at Humboldt Speedway wanted to be at the forefront of that movement. Likewise, now is the time to align ourselves with an established rulebook and support system by sanctioning the Tuners with USRA.”
All competitors at USRA-sanctioned events must possess a USRA competition license or temporary license prior to participating in the event. A USRA competitor license may be purchased online at usraracing.com/register or by calling (515) 832-6000. Only USRA-sanctioned racetracks offer USRA temp licenses for purchase.
The cost of a USRA competitor license for 2021 is $110 for Stock Cars and $60 for Tuners. A temp license is $10 and good for one event only.
The first 300 racers to purchase their license will receive a $50 gift card from Summit Racing Equipment and a USRA competitor license includes a $100,000 excess medical insurance policy.
The Humboldt Speedway is located 0.1 mile west of US 169 at the Humboldt Exit, then 0.5 mile south, then 0.9 mile east on Georgia Rd. For more information, call (620) 431-2470 or visit humboldtspeedway.com. You can also like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.
