WILSON, JARMAN, CHAMBERRS, AND LUTHI CLAIM VICTORY AS 2021 SEASON GETS “RESTART” AT HUMBOLDT SPEEDWAY!

By Scott Lee Stewart

After three weeks of Friday night rainouts, Humboldt Speedway hit the reset button on the 2021 season. The result? Excellent racing in near perfect weather conditions.

Derrek Wilson of Chanute, Ks. led all 16 laps of the Home Savings Bank Factory Stock feature for his second Hummer win of the ’21 season. While Wilson aced the field from the outside pole, the battle behind the leader was intense: at the checkered, Coffeyville Ks.’ Brian Knisley was runner up, followed by third place finisher Scott Collins of Humboldt. Ethan Vance of Chanute recorded the fourth place finish, while Trey Stipp of Humboldt filled out the top five.

Action aplenty was the theme for Love’s Travel Stops Midwest Modified Feature, as Brad Jarman of Altoona, Ks. turned in a flawless performance for his first victory in 16 yrs. Action was intense and dramatic, any one of the top five had a real shot at the win. When the checkered flag flew, Humboldt driver Jackson McGowen finished a well earned runner up, while Tyler Davis of Chanute finished third. Humboldt’s Scott Lucke overcame adversity to finish fourth, while Jon Westhoff claimed fifth in the 20 car field.

It was the Jeremy Chambers show in the Ray’s Metal Depot B-Mod event. The Baldwin City, Ks veteran took off from the outside pole, and drove a steady pace to eventually gap the balance of the 18 car field. Behind Chambers though, action was fast and hard fought. Brian McGowen of Pittsburgh, Ks clawed his way to a runner up finish, edging third place Tyler Kidwell of Chanute. Lansing, Ks driver Jake Richards secured fourth, while Humboldt’s Levi McGowen rounded out the top five.

USRA Tuners action was a close combat duel between winner Barry Luthi of Topeka and runner up Brandon Vink of Humboldt. While the pair dueled for the win, Humboldt’s Clint Haigler drove from dead last in the 11 car field to claim third. Robert Moore, also of Humboldt, was fourth, and Parsons driver Maddyson Tyler was fifth.

Racing will yield next week to a Friday/Saturday appearance of the All Star Monster Trucks.

Racing resumes at Humboldt Speedway the following Friday April 14th with Kids Bicycle races during intermission!
